Review of VCO event: The Corporate Governance Code

On Wednesday, Feb. 15, the VCO, with about 55 members and guests, was a guest at RSM Netherlands in Hoofddorp. During an inspiring and interactive meeting, we discussed the new Corporate Governance Code and what results the VCO’s response and text proposals have led to in the new Code. Marlène Jans and Jan Stolker gave their explanation of and views on the new Corporate Governance Code, also in relation to the compliance profession.

As guardians of a company’s integrity and functioning in the second tier, you might expect that the compliance function also earned a place in the new Corporate Governance Code. Nothing could be further from the truth. While good governance is also about the design of organizational structures and the three lines.

During the panel discussion, which included Geert Vermeulen in addition to Jan and Marlène, participants actively contributed to the discussion, discussing and – if necessary – undercutting catchy propositions. We concluded with a fantastic drink provided by RSM Netherlands.

We look back on a successful VCO event and look forward to the next VCO event which will be hosted by the ESG Knowledge Table at the Tropenmuseum on March 16. Find out more in our AGENDA and sign up!
